6月23日至6月24日，由中國人民大學(xué)法學(xué)院、香港城市大學(xué)法學(xué)院和中國人民大學(xué)國際學(xué)院（蘇州研究院）共同主辦的“2012中美法學(xué)院院長論壇——紀(jì)念CLEEC項(xiàng)目三十周年”在中國人民大學(xué)國際學(xué)院（蘇州研究院）圓滿召開。來自中美兩國近六十所知名法學(xué)院校的院長、學(xué)者共聚一堂，回顧、分享了中美法學(xué)教育交流的歷史與成果，探索新環(huán)境、新形勢下中美法學(xué)教育交流的新方式、新方法，為兩國法科學(xué)生與教師提供更多的交流機(jī)會(huì)，推動(dòng)法學(xué)教育的發(fā)展。
本次論壇恰逢中美法學(xué)教育界第一個(gè)正式交流項(xiàng)目CLEEC（中美法學(xué)教育交流委員會(huì)，Committee for Legal Education Exchange with China）創(chuàng)立實(shí)施三十周年。該項(xiàng)目先后資助了兩百余位中國法學(xué)界和法學(xué)教育界的學(xué)者赴美交流和深造。本次研討會(huì)也邀請(qǐng)了中美兩國參與過兩國交流項(xiàng)目的著名法學(xué)家和法學(xué)教育家與會(huì)，全面、系統(tǒng)地總結(jié)兩國法學(xué)教育交流合作的豐碩成果和成功經(jīng)驗(yàn)。
在6月23日上午的開幕式上，吉林省高級(jí)人民法院院長、教育部高校法學(xué)學(xué)科教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)主任委員、中國法學(xué)教育研究會(huì)會(huì)長張文顯教授，中國人民大學(xué)黨委副書記兼副校長王利明教授，香港城市大學(xué)法學(xué)院院長王貴國教授，美方嘉賓代表杜克大學(xué)法學(xué)院院長David F. Levi教授和中國人民大學(xué)法學(xué)院院長韓大元教授先后致辭。幾位致辭嘉賓認(rèn)為，在中美法學(xué)教育交流計(jì)劃啟動(dòng)三十周年之際，中美兩國法學(xué)院院長共聚一堂，具有非常重大的意義。本次論壇將是我們回顧和分享中國改革開放之初兩國法學(xué)教育的交流與合作的平臺(tái)，并將進(jìn)一步深入地推進(jìn)中美兩國法學(xué)教育的交流、法治建設(shè)的交流和其他方面的交流與合作，將進(jìn)一步推進(jìn)中國法學(xué)教育、中國法律人才培養(yǎng)的國際化。
隨后，研討會(huì)分五個(gè)單元進(jìn)行，分別是：“回顧與共享（一）：中美法學(xué)教育”、“回顧與共享（二）：CLEEC與中美法學(xué)教育交流”、“全球化與中美法學(xué)教育交流”、“學(xué)生參與中美法學(xué)教育交流”和“國際卓越人才培養(yǎng)計(jì)劃與中美法學(xué)教育交流”五個(gè)話題展開深入交流與探討。中美法學(xué)院院長、知名教授分別在五個(gè)單元中作主題發(fā)言，回顧歷史、立足當(dāng)下、展望未來，分享了法學(xué)教育交流的經(jīng)驗(yàn)與成果，對(duì)未來雙方的合作與交流提出了有益建議。
在6月24日上午的閉幕式上，美國法學(xué)院協(xié)會(huì)會(huì)長、印第安納大學(xué)（伯明頓分校）常務(wù)副校長Lauren Kay Robel教授，吉林省高級(jí)人民法院院長、教育部高校法學(xué)學(xué)科教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)主任委員、中國法學(xué)教育研究會(huì)會(huì)長張文顯教授和中國人民大學(xué)法學(xué)院的朱景文教授對(duì)本次論壇發(fā)表總結(jié)性發(fā)言。Lauren Kay Robel教授總結(jié)了本次論壇的情況，并就中美雙方可以展開合作的機(jī)制與方式發(fā)表觀點(diǎn)。張文顯教授指出，法學(xué)教育首先是一種公民教育，無論法律人從事的是哪個(gè)領(lǐng)域的法律工作，都是一種公共服務(wù)，如果沒有公民的立場，公共服務(wù)的質(zhì)量就會(huì)受到扭曲。最后，主持人王振民教授就新時(shí)期法科學(xué)生培養(yǎng)理念等問題進(jìn)行了總結(jié)發(fā)言。
中美雙方與會(huì)代表紛紛表示，本次論壇將成為中美法學(xué)教育交流開啟新紀(jì)元的契機(jī)，中美兩國的法學(xué)教育必將借此契機(jī)增進(jìn)交流，加深友誼，共同進(jìn)步！
